Hi nomad36, welcome to the forum. when i first started with d.t. i could only manage to do 12 dips in the whole of the first session. It was extremely hard to do as well. I kept at it, now i can do 300 easily in a session. on one occasion i did over 900. your numbers will increase with practice i am...

I watch the atlas dvd. which helps to motivate me. i also compare old training diaries, to see huge increases in my training, very motivational.

I personally would follow the d.t course, as best you can. before putting in any changes.
although that is a good routine, you have suggested.
there are reasons for following the course, as it is laid out.
when you go through the course, you will understand, i'm sure.
