In the book "10 steps to a better body" is a squatting exercise, it is very important to notice the posture in the illustration because that is how you want to keep your back. It mentions to do them slow, you can also make them more strenuous by taking 20 seconds to do them, 20 seconds to go down then 20 to come back up, during this time keep breathing. Keep the arms at your sides.
